Mission and History

Mission and Role: The following role and mission statement for RISAT was adopted by the Board of Directors in 2011. It emphasizes three essential ingredients for the direction of the Institute:

high quality basic and applied research and scholarship,
excellent and relevant instruction,
responsive and effective public and community service

As an Institution of higher education, RISAT has a two-fold mission.

It advances knowledge and promotes the science through research, scholarship, and creative activity.
It offers courses of the highest quality that lead explicit results in academic and industry for students and faculty.

In all its activities, the RISAT strives to exemplify educational leadership.

History: RISAT was started in 2010 as a networking group of researchers in sciences and engineering. It worked as a common platform between researchers in USA and many European countries.

In 2011, RISAT was incorporated as art of the Lissus Scientific LLC and organized in an Institute. It's mission expanded in offering online courses, fellowships, and basic courses in sciences and engineering. When the initial courses were intended for Albanian students who wanted to come to USA to attend graduate school, now they are offered worldwide and RISAT is truly an international institution with a wide variety of faculty and students.
