Academic Programs

History

While RISAT was first created as a group of researchers with one of its main goals to support young researchers from Balkans or Mediterranean countries, it soon became apparent that some concrete steps had to be undertaken such as offering short courses in sciences and technology. Such courses got a positive reaction from students and participants and there was always the push from students and faculty to offer degrees in some of the main areas of RISAT.

In Summer 2011, RISAT and its board of directors decided to start offering degrees. Each degree has its own specifications, but they all obey certain common rules.
  • Whether the class is held online or in classroom, the final exam will always be a written exam held in a classroom.
  • The leading instructor of the course will always have a PhD degree awarded from an accredited Western institution.
  • Every degree offered will have to play a role in establishing RISAT as a leading institution in science and technology.
  • The succes of an academic program will be judged by its quality of the graduates and never by the enrollment numbers.
  • RISAT will offer the following types of degrees: Bachelor of Science and Master of Science.
  • Bachelor of Science degrees will all be 120-130  credits (equivalent to a minimum of 4 academic years)
  • Master of Science degrees will be 36 credits (equivalent of 2 academic years)
